Are there really Cheap Amazon Deals? Yes, there are. But you have to be careful.
As with any online seller, you need to be mindful of the list prices. I have an extensive background in retail. MSRP stands for Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. The key word here is Suggested. A retailer can list an item for whatever they want to sell it for.
Most brick and mortar shops will go with the MSRP. But I have seen exceptions where the MSRP is doubled or tripled.
Some online sellers are drop ship people and they get crazy with the MSRP. I see far more padding of the MSRP with online sellers than anywhere else.
MSRP is not the same as a MAP Agreement. The MAP Agreement is a signed contract between the Manufacturer and the Retail Seller. This is the Minimum Agreed Price that an item can be sold for. This MAP Agreement is why you cannot use coupons on Cricut machines at places like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. When you see exclusions on store coupons, it is usually because there is a MAP Agreement in place for those items.
Remember, just because it is Amazon, doesn’t mean that the price is always the cheapest available. When I post a list like this, I have already done the research and I have already looked at the local store ads. I have looked up the actual MSRP’s from the manufacturers and compared them to the list prices.
