Not Just Stitches is a place where Quilting and Scrapbooking come together.
I know that might sound strange because Quilting deals with Fabric and Scrapbooking deals with Paper. But Quilting and Scrapbooking share Designs, Tools, Techniques and so much more.
The same designs that I use in Quilting, I can also use to make a Greeting Card or a Shadow Box.
Greeting Card and Shadow Box Designs can easily be turned into an Embroidery Design which can easily be turned into Sewing Patterns and Applique Designs.
The World of Fiber Arts is amazing.
In this exciting Blog we will explore everything from Doll Clothes to full size patterns from babies, children and adults.
We will explore digital designs that can be used in card making, quilting, applique, knitting and stitching.
There will be lot of awesome tutorials, tips and tricks, and helpful techniques along the way.
I have both my AQS and NQA teaching certifications. I have been teaching sewing and quilting for more than 35 years.
I have my EGA teaching certification and I recently obtained my Sulky teaching certification.
You are in good hands.
The Die Cutting Machines
I fell in love with Scrapbooking when the AccuQuilt first came out. With the AccuQuilt, I was able to cut out my quilt pieces so much faster and the accuracy beats my best efforts and skills with my rotary blade and rulers.
Next, I bought the Brother Scan N Cut and the Silhouette Cameo 3. I was fascinated by the intricate designs. My excitement escalated when I realized how easily these designs could be made into appliques for quilting and sewing projects.
Paper Engineering and SMD LED Circuits
That was just the beginning. I became fascinated with Paper Engineering and Shadow Boxes. But let’s not stop there. SMD LED Circuits add a Special Dimension to Paper Projects. These SMD LED Circuits literally light up the project and make it shine and stand out.
Supplies for the projects listed on the Blog will be available in the Online Store. I will never leave you hanging with projects that you can’t make.
Journals and Planners
Then there are the Planners and Journals which I have used since my college years. The idea that I can design, make and customize my own Planners and Journals is incredible. Planners and Journals are completely customizable. You can choose the color, style, theme, size, and the binding. Absolutely everything can be personalized to fit your style, your personality, and your budget.
The Disc Planners that I demonstrate on this Blog are the Happy Planner, TUL (from Office Max) and Arc (from Staples). I mention this because of the hole punch placement.
The Online Store will not carry any of the supplies for either the TUL or the Arc Planners. But you can expect to find supplies for the Happy Planer, We Are Memories, Zutter and much more.
Xyron Creative Station
I love my Xyron Creative Station. This is an awesome machine.
If you don’t have one, be sure to check it out.
I love being about to print my own digital papers and attach them to card stock for use in my projects. When I buy scrapbook paper packs, while they are beautiful and awesome, I tend to run out of all my favorite designs. Then the scrapbook paper packs get discontinued and you can’t get them anymore. When you are working with digital paper, that problem is easily solved.
But let’s not stop with the digital papers, you can also take you designer papers and turn them into card stock. The process is simple.
Let the fun begin.
Forever 18
My Doll Making Adventures started back in the 1980’s and have been going strong ever since. There is just something magical about those 18″ Dolls. Did you know that your favorite digital papers can be turned into fabric and then made into dresses and outfits for your 18″ Dolls? I cut out many of my doll patterns with my die cutting machines. Die cutting machines are incredible when you need to cut out those very small Barbie Doll outfits.
I never thought I would want to make clothes for the Barbie Doll. Those pieces are just too small. But I can run those pieces through the Silhouette Cameo with very little effort.
The die cutting machines are also great for cutting out small sewing and craft projects.
